Privacy should not require a law degree to understand.
This Privacy Policy explains how Verge collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Verge app, website, and related services. Verge is independently built and currently self-funded. The service is not being built around selling personal information to advertisers.
1. Information you provide
When you create an account, request beta access, or use Verge, you may provide information such as your email address, name, display name, username or Verge handle, platform, device model, operating system version, profile details, profile image, posts, comments, messages or replies where supported, reports, feedback, beta testing notes, and other content you choose to submit.
2. Information created through use of Verge
Verge may store information about how you use the service, including follows, likes or reactions, restacks, saves, community activity, moderation actions, account settings, and other interactions needed to make the app work.
3. Technical information
Verge and its service providers may process basic technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, timestamps, crash information, authentication events, and security logs. This information may be used to keep the service reliable, diagnose bugs, prevent abuse, and protect accounts.
4. How information is used
Information may be used to provide and improve Verge, create and secure accounts, manage beta access and testing groups, contact beta applicants about testing, display user content, support social features, personalize basic parts of the experience, send service-related communications, respond to support requests, investigate reports, enforce platform rules, and prevent fraud or abuse.
5. Service providers
Verge relies on third-party infrastructure and service providers to operate. These providers may process information only as needed to provide services such as authentication, database storage, hosting, email delivery, analytics, crash reporting, or other infrastructure. Verge currently uses Supabase for core backend services and Vercel for this website.
6. Website analytics
The Verge website uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand basic website traffic and performance. Vercel Web Analytics is designed as first-party, privacy-friendly analytics and does not rely on advertising cookies to track people across unrelated websites. Verge uses these tools to understand which pages are useful and whether the site is performing well.
7. Selling personal information
Verge does not currently sell personal information to data brokers or advertisers. Verge is not being built around a business model that depends on selling your personal information.
8. Public content
Information you choose to post publicly may be visible to other people. Think before posting information you would not want shared outside your intended audience. Deleting content may remove it from normal display, but limited copies may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or systems used for safety, legal compliance, or abuse prevention.
9. Account security
You are responsible for protecting your login credentials. Verge may use authentication tools, password reset links, session controls, and other security measures to help protect accounts. No online service can guarantee perfect security.
10. Data retention
Verge keeps information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, or enforce agreements. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and why it is needed.
11. Your choices
You may be able to update profile information, delete content, change account settings, or request account assistance through the app or by contacting Verge. Requests involving account access, correction, or deletion may require identity verification before changes are made.
12. Children
Verge is not intended for children under 13. If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age to use an online service without parental consent, that higher age applies. If Verge learns that personal information from a child was collected in violation of applicable law, reasonable steps will be taken to delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
This policy may change as Verge grows, new features are added, or legal requirements change. Material changes will be communicated in a reasonable way, and the updated date at the top of this page will be changed.
